Mail
Automation
In the mid 1970's Bob pioneered Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
sorting of outgoing mail for postage discounts at his bank.
His knowledge of the science of sortation from a check clearing
background has continued to serve the clients of TCC with efficient
utilization of OCR and bar code technology. This expertise was used when
TCC designed one of the first systems which automated incoming and interoffice
mail in 1990. TCC design
of automated systems extends beyond the equipment to internal customers and the
mail staff. Through total integration and appreciation of the system’s
capabilities, the client organization can best achieve its desired return
on investment.
Sharon has over 10 years experience managing an automated incoming and interoffice mail system.
Outgoing Mail processed on inserter equipment is a special challenge.
There are many vendors, all of whom offer different opportunities.
Therefore, one of the greatest challenges is to accurately define
client needs and then match those needs to the various vendor offerings.
Many times inserter equipment is obtained with excess features
resulting in diminished return on investment – something TCC helps its
clients guard against.
Incoming and interoffice mail processed with either bar codes or OCR
technology is the wave of the future.
Although the introduction of automation requires a significant
capital expenditure, it can pay great dividends in reducing mail service
labor. If a mail code system
is already in place, there are good opportunities for conversion to
automation. If there is no
mail code system, OCR technology can enable you to leapfrog into
the 21st Century.
Whether
it is automation of incoming, interoffice or outgoing mail, TCC has the
expertise, experience and marketplace knowledge to most efficiently assist
you with your needs.
